Leela James "Music" Album Review

MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC AND A WHOLE LOTTA SOUL - THANK YOU
couldn't disagree more with DKW. 3 of the 6 are gr8 and the others are good. he's right about these mixes not being peak hour hi-nrg thump thump. if you like funky, soulful, groove you'll like at least one of these mixes. if you actually listen to the lyrics you might understand where these guys were coming from in the remixes. and to miss leela james, some of us white folks "count on music" too. thanks for this beautiful piece.

Mish Mash "Speechless" Album Review

fierce diva vocals and thumpin' house and electro beats
The remixer line-up alone is reason enough to buy this single. The female vocals and background chorus are reminiscent of the Thelma Houston classic "Don't Leave Me This Way." The Soul Avengers mix retains that disco house feel with bright strings and rhythms. The seamus haji edit--well, WHY is it an edit? It's a sort of funky, electro version, and very similar to the more pounding and amazing King Unique Remix, my favorite on the disc. The Cicada mix has the usual mellow retro new wave house feel they are known for. And, well, the original radio edit and extended mix is the weakest of the bunch--a kind of dull funk house. The remixes definitely make this one sizzle.
