MY NUMBER #1 GIRL
EXCELLENT, FANTASTIC, great song from our great Atrist Pepper Mashay..........just when you think she did it, she comes back again with a Number#1 on the Billboard Charts for dance/Club for the week of December 23, 2006. GREAT!!!!!!! LOVE YOU PEPPER MASHAY, your friend, Rob-E`
a wonderful cd
American Dreamer: Songs of Stephen Foster; Thomas Hampson; Jay Unger; Molly Mason This is simply a wonderful cd. I have two copies one for home and one for the car.Hampson not only sings these songs beautifully,he caresses the words. Not since john Mc cormack has a vocalist had such a way with telling a story in music.
Great, but...
Odyssey is a great album if you're a fan of his remixing work, using amazing sampling techniques to build and reinvent many songs. On this album of originals, the style is still the same, which is great, because that's what you'd be buying the album for.
That said, many of the tracks start sounding similar after a while, and once his effects are introduced, the songs stay the same until their short conclusion (most are only 3.5 minutes max). There are also religious undertones throughout all tracks too, which offset the 'club' sound of the tracks - an odd blend. And another thing... the quality of the beats/CD was strange too. It might just be the process that the samples go through, but there was hardly any kick or bass range when listening back, and are some tracks in mono??
Don't get me wrong, I totally love Todd Edwards' style - I would love to be a fly on the wall to see how he creates all his tracks - but some of the tracks lack scope in diversity, and the quality of the tracks left me a bit deflated. I was all ready to sink my teeth into some serious bass, but then... it wasn't there!
Still, I'll recommend some standout tracks: The Journey, Like A Fire, Thru The Pain, Show The Way, Agony, Far Away...
Ultimately, if you enjoy his remixes, then definately go for this CD. While there are some (nitpicky) issues, it is a good disc of tracks showcasing a distinct style.
Video Todd Edwards "Far Away"
"Far Away" is the first video from Todd Edward's album Odyssey. The video was directed and created by Nate Burr better known on YouTube as Blunty3000. His success with Jamie Kennedy's "Circle, Circle, Dot, Dot" has proven him to be one of the most innovative video producers on YouTube. For "Far Away" he again shows his stop motion expertise, seamlessly blending Todd's unique production style with his own cutting edge building block characters.

Outstanding album, Kaskade is moving forward
I can see how there would be some who wouldn't like this album. It's not like the older Kaskade albums. I think it had more energy and punch. I prefer this style of music. This will make you tap your feet. Older Kaskade albums are good to use as a sleep aid in comparison. The entire album is filled with terrific tracks. You won't find yourself skipping over any "stinkers". If Kaskade continues along this path he can expect to have me as a fan for some time.

Album Description
If your looking for a brilliant slice of of modern day trance/pop confection that's got all the right ingredients to cause fervor on your dancefloor, then Jacinta's new single "Destination" will definitely appease. U.S. clubland was first introduced to Jacinta with her infectious Billboard dance smash hit "Sunshine", and now she returns with her follow up single "Destination"- the second cut extracted from her forthcoming new album "Lighten Up". Parlaying her versatility of songwriter, musician, and record label owner in original and quality productions, Jacinta delivers yet another stormer with "Destination" - which was co-written by remixer & producer Anton Bass. Jacinta's hypnotizing vocals get major reconstructions first from UK remix stalwarts Aurora and Digital Dog whom give the melancholy track the proper trance workout in
their own indelible styles. The (Aurora Club Mix) provides a powerful uplifting trance stormer filled with mesmerizing waves of pulsating synths, hard hitting stabs and driving beats. Jacinta's vocals glide over luxuriant melodies and scorching basslines as heavy builds up give way to the mesmerizing chorus as Jacinta's vocals soar. The full throttle energy of the full (Aurora Club Mix) is retained in the shorter (Radio Mix) and equally in the (Aurora Dub) which is filled with more heavier build ups, vibrant synths and sparse vocals. Offering up a spectacular blend of galloping beats, sweeping basslines and vocal effects amidst swirling synths is the (Digital Dog Club Mix). Resonant tweaks and flagellated vocal effects describe the antics of this superb mix which gives midway to a brief mid cut sequence with vocal distortion effects. The accompanied (Digital Dog Dub) is just as ethereal to the ears and solid with enough vocals amidst blending synths and skittering breaks. Showcasing Jacinta's vocal prowess is the (Dark Hours Radio Mix) which is melancholy piano laden acoustic like version. Adding more firepower to this track is the (Anton Bass Extended Mix). No stranger to clubland, Anton Bass (remixer/producer/songwriter) was part of the fabulous remix team the Karmadelics who churned out some memorable dance hits with Sandy B. aside from remixing for such artists as Monica, Luther Vandross, Kim Sozzi etc.. Anchored by powerful beats, percolating basslines and melodic synths, Anton's mix really compliment Jacinta's vocals to perfection. Resilient percussion, pounding bass and elusive rhythms makes this mix strong and energetic as the vocal overlays blends flawlessly
with the crescendos and drops throughout the mix. Rounding out the remix package is the (Rod Carillo Mulas Cranky Dub) which is moody house like excursion with dirty basslines, cascading beats, and exquisite abstract vocal effects that
keeps things to a real minimum as far as dubs go. Jacinta's "Destination" is another top knotched original production in the same calibre as "Sunshine".
Thus, if both tracks are any indication of whatto expect from her new album, then Jacinta is 'destined' to shine on the dancefloors!

International Pony "Mit Dir Sind Wir Vier" Album Review
Album Description
International Pony, the gorgeous global supergroup from Hamburg comprising Cosmic DJ, Erobique and DJ Koze finally release their second album, after a 4-year long hiatus! Mit Dir Sind Wir Vier contains 12 new tracks and two bonus tracks and one video -- each finer, more exciting and more uplifting than the last. This album shows International Pony radiating a consummate yet juvenile charm that comes over as refreshing, without seeming dumb. And with this new record, we can confidently short list them with Sly Stone, Air and The Philosopher's Stone: future funk! Slow soul numbers avoid all stereotypes while simultaneously using all the tricks in the musical book to cast its spell -- with that uplifting Pony feeling. Whereas their first album We Love Music cross-referenced all the biggest pop styles (hip-hop, house, techno, funk, etc.), this release concentrates all the best Pony moments into a highly-refined sound. The skippiness in the beat, the wonderful lightness of foot (even in the most melancholic moments), the sometimes weird and radiant vocals from Cosmic DJ, the famously gnarly French electronica of DJ Koze, the high pop skills and manifold instrumental capabilities of Erobique -- all melts together here into a consummate, transcendent work of art. Open your arms wide.

The Bird and the Bee "Fucking Boyfriend" Album Review
Album Description
Greg Kurstin and Inara George discovered a common love of jazz standards and nerded out for a couple of hours, playing every song they knew. Eventually they created a full length album that sounds like a "futuristic 1960's American film set in Brazil". This single includes a remix by the punk artist Peaches!
One of the best music from Cuba
If you haven't listened to Buena Social Club, you have to. Classic songs, ranging from traditional slow Salsa to old Cuban songs played by magnificent musicians. The documental is good too, but you don't need to watch it if you close your eyes and listed to the CD.

Fredrick Ford "Turn My World Around (I Found the One)" Album Review
great male vocals--and a couple of slammin' electro house mixes
The mixes on this CD single are so much stronger than the remixes on Ford's cover version of George Michael's "Too Funky"--not to mention that this is just a better song. The best mixes do not belong to Josh Harris (too bright and disco) or Mike Cruz (too dark and tribal). The Georgie Porgie mix and the TNT mix or the two thumpers here, bringing hard electro house vibes that will make a dance floor shake. These mixes just drive forward with the aggression of the vocals and the hook of the chorus. Totally hot.

lyric:
I never knew a love
A love that could be sweeter
No matter what my mind says
Your music gives me fever
The moment that we danced
Your arms felt like a cradle
And when you took my hand
I was no longer able
It never felt so right before
I need to be with you much more
I can't believe this kind of fate
We can runaway...
Is it love?
I'm always in a spell
Even when I sleeping
You're always on my mind
I hope that I'm not dreaming
If I am let me stay asleep
Don't wake me up I feel complete
I never want to feel it end
What a lovely moment
I wanna give you my love
Overtime
I wanna make love to you
Overtime
I wanna be right next to you
Overtime
I wanna be in love with you
Overtime

Jim Pepper turns over in his grave...
This has to be the most boring, uncreative electronica I have ever heard. Especially tragic is Tim De Laughter's butchering of the lyrics of the sublime "Witchi Tai To": "War spirit's feet are swinging 'round my head" instead of "Water spirit feeling springing 'round my head". A rather different nuance, is it not? Try listening to Jim Pepper's own recordings instead of Robert Charlebois! (Or better, read Pepper's own transcription of the lyrics.) And, it's hard to believe that "Kill 100" was a "hit"--the English must be getting really desperate! I give this 2 stars rather than only 1 because the booklet graphics are really cute. I will miss them when I ditch this turkey.

The Freelance Hellraiser "You Can Cry All You Want" Album Review
Album Description
Second single taken from the album Waiting For Clearance by The Freelance Hellraiser and shows that the bootleg genius, remix maestro and party starting DJ par excellence is one hell of a musical force in his own right. A slice of anthemic electronic pop that brings both a smile to your face and a bounce to your step, this could well be the soundtrack to some of this Summer's most sublime moments. Features 'You Can Cry All You Want' coupled with 'Beautiful Girl'. RCA. 2006.

Backup singer makes good
"And She Said" is a wonderfully bouncy and upbeat tune, a standout in the dance/electronica genre. Tracks 1 and 3 are the best - the Reggaeton versions in Spanish and in English are examples of shoehorning a song into a different style just because you can, and not because you should.

why confusing the genres?
why do some people with great knowledge of music confuse the type of voices and then write a review about it EWA PODLES is not a mezzo or thought the first time naxos releasd the rossini arias they did launch it as "ARIAS FOR MEZZO SOPRANO" IT AS SINCE BEING RIGHTLY RECTIFIED TO "ARIAS FOR CONTRALTO"AND WHAT IS THIS ABOUT HER VOICE NOT SOUNDING YOUNG ENOUGH FOR ROSINA(FROM ONE 5 STARS REVIEW CUSTOMER?)I'M AFRAID THEY'RE ARE ALOT OF MUCH YOUNGER SINGERS THAT COULD NOT DO HALF OF WHAT E PODLES DOES.
SHE WILL BE AT THE WIGMORE HALL IN JANUARY 2008 WITH RUSSIANS SONGS AND I CAN NOT WAIT WHILST I WOULD NOT CROSS THE PAVEMENT FOR CECILIA BARTOLI! BUT THAT'S MY CHOICE.(BY OTHER WAY I WILL PROBABLY MAKE SOME PEOPLE FURIOUS BY ADMITTING WITH PRIDE THAT MY FAVORITE SINGER IS WAIT FOR it!DAME JOSEPHINE BARSTOW!)what about that then?

best smooth techno of the 2003!
This a new and very becoming artist. Her popular song, "just the way you are" is absolutely faboulous. It takes you back in the day of "alice deejay" and "Sarina Paris"(if you do not know who they are then check them out), if you love these two artists than you will love "milky". I recomend this cd single to everyone, or at least until a full cd comes out.
Album Description
Originally released in 2006, Hear My Song is a retrospective of Louie Austen's career from 1999 to the present. Louie has worked with some of the most cutting edge producers in dance music -- collaborating with Peaches, Patrick Pulsinger, Gonzales, Maurice Fulton and Christopher Just, amongst others. Included here are club hits "Grab My Shaft," featuring electro-vixen Peaches, "Hoping" and "Amore." Louie's music appeals to fans of Nouvelle Vague and Paul Anka's rock covers, as well as clubbers, who will appreciate the dancefloor-friendly production. Tirk. 2007.

Give the S-Man Another Chance in the future
When I heard the S was dropping another album, I couldn't wait to hear it. After hearing it, though, I have to say I was a little disappointed. Now I know that I shouldn't expect to hear Another Chance clone, and I welcome change, but not when stuff sounds like everything else. If you're one to like the standard 4/4 house track (I personally still like that, to an extent) then this might be for you, but coming from the S-Man, somehow I expected more. Here's my take, track by track:
1-Turn On the Music, has the generic big diva style vocals over a very repetitive 4/4 beat. Been done before & definitely breaks no ground. Not a strong album opener in my opinion.
2-Take a Chance, opens a la Gypsy Kings with rapid handclaps & flamenco style guitar work, then morphs into a nice Latin house beat w/vocal stylings reminiscent of the Sugababes.
3-This is your standard pop-house track filler. Not bad, but sounds like every other song you've heard on Radio 1.
4-Nice minimal piano intro with tribal beats. Nice melody & vocals. Sounds like a song that could've been on First Contact.
5-I've never been a fan of male vocals in dance music, but somehow I'd rather listen to that than irritating spoken male vocals. There are female vocals singing the chorus, but no way save this track.
6-Reminds me of Turn On the Music, being that it's another diva style vocals/repetitive synths w/no melody over a 4/4 beat. So glad we invented the fast forward button.
7-Peaked my interest in the beginning with a nice calm piano intro stirring my ears to hear a nice chill track. Nice vocals and then the generic house beat came in and took away from the track. Not the worst, but expected better.
8-Again, I'm not a fan of male vocals, but this turned out to be one of the better tracks on the album. Reminds me of summer.
9-Debatedly my favorite on this release, it features a subdued 4/4 beat over Spanish guitars w/Alejandro Sanz singing in English (I was a little put off by that for some reason). The track closes w/some Latin-jazz style piano. Nice for post-party relaxation.
10-Another filler number w/female vocals & standard house beat. Not bad.
11-This track made me smile. This was the chill track I had hoped to hear and my wish was answered. Not to mention it's a great track to bring the album home. Nice beat w/atmospheric synth work & light melody flowing throughout. Whispery female vocals in Spanish makes this a plus in my opinion.
Overall, I expected to hear something different from the S. It's different for him, yea, but it's more of the same other artists do: inadequate, filler tracks. No "Another Chance" on this cd, but still worth a listen. After all, it's the S-Man!
My standout trax: 1/3/4/8/9/11

The Deluxe edition!
The Deluxe edition has finally arrived! The deluxe edition for the album Respect that is. At first, I wasn't sure what this edition would consist of. I mean I already thought the first regular edition was good on its own. I thought maybe they'd add a DVD? Perhaps they'd add a bonus remix CD? I knew for sure that new tracks would be added and some songs from the first edition taken out which is what happened in the end. It's a shame though they didn't keep the track Lisa M recorded with Voltio for the deluxe edition. But the deluxe edition doesn't really suffer from that. It stands good on its own with 2 new tracks one with La India and all the remaining tracks intact with some being remixed! So you're not losing if you already have bought Respect last year. Quedate en cuero has always been my favorite and to hear it remixed is a plus for me.
Lisa M will embark on a tour next year to promote this revamped record and I simply wish her the best. It was a shame that the first edition of Respect was overlooked and I hope this new editon will finally hit the airwaves like there's no tomorrow because she deserves it!
On a side note, it's a bit weird that the clean verison is only available and not the explicit version.
Also a greatest hits is due now. I think it'll be cool to remind people just how important Lisa M has been for the latin music world with hits like menealo, tu pum pum, and everybody dancing now. That'll give people some good memories.

She Is A STAR!
I LOVE Paris Hilton! Always have. When i heard she was making a record I knew it would be good. Boy was i SHOCKED upon hearing *Stars Are Blind*. Paris did good on her first single. Very reminiscence of the Culture Club track *Do You Really Want To Hurt Me* and UB40's *Red Red Wine*. Paris Hilton is here to stay and I for one am glad.

Solid Album
This is the first album I've purchased by Osunlade, and I wasn't disappointed in the least. What struck me on the first listen was the production, really superb, clean ---panning vocals, emphasis on rhythm, etc.
This is usually grouped into the house music section, and even though the feeling of house is present (positive vibe, makes you wanna move) only a few of the tracks are straight house. Many are much closer to jazz, but with the producer's spin on it becomes something more akin to studio-manipulated jazz.
Latin and African influences are present on the percussion, as well as the aforementioned house. Throw in some synths, woodwinds, and a string section, and you should get as close of an idea as you can without actually hearing it.
That having been said, check it out. A solid album, and is probably going to be a little underrated and overlooked in contrast to the actual worth of the recording.
Great album you've probably not heard
I wore out my cassette copy of MSG's Perfect Timing back in the day. Years later I found it on CD and rediscovered what a great record it is. A few weeks later I ordered Save Yourself (save your $$) and then this one, which I never even knew existed until recently.
Note to Michael Schenker: probably not a great marketing idea to call this record MSG considering you already had an album called MSG released back in '81. Good way to confuse fans. Just look at the reviews for this disc here on Amazon--some of them are actually reviews of the '81 album. (Worthless trivia: Ratt did the same thing--an EP called RATT back in the 80's, then their big comeback disc a few years ago. Same title. Maybe they got this idea from Schenker when he played with Ratt as a sub for Robbin Crosby??? Told you it was worthless...)
In spite of the duplicate name, this album is really good. Jeff Pilson plays bass and James Kottak (ex-Kingdom Come, ex-Warrant, Scorpions) plays drums. The first tune, Eve, is the best song on the disc. I'm surprised I never heard it on the radio back then. Every album in this genre is apparently required to have at least a ballad or 2, and this disc is no exception.
The pairing of McAuley & Schenker was great, albeit short-lived. This 3rd disc was their last. Since then, Schenker has put out about 47 more albums with about as many line-ups, but none (in my opinion) match the quality of Perfect Timing or this MSG disc.
Great song
Just wanted to say that although i am not a huge fan of Paul Oakenfold, he has me hooked on this song. And Brittany Murphy--who knew the damn girl could sing! She has a great voice, and, come to think of it, she kind of sounds like Esthero. Well, pick up the single only, the cd sucked, this is the only good song from it. Great sound, a lot of fun.
Kyoto Jazz Massive "10th Anniversary" Album Review
A double-disc of remix & exclusive tracks in honor of Kyoto Jazz Massive's 10th Anniversary.
Aside from Satoshi Tomiie of King Street records, brothers Shuya & Yoshihiro Okino collectively known together as "Kyoto Jazz Massive" (KJM) are the best and most recognized DJs internationally from Japan. Their careers as solo artist is more than a decade long. As KJM they have been performing together since 1994.
In celebration of their 10th Anniversary, Universal Music Japan, Quality Records, and Extra Freedom.,ltd have released 3 albums (RE:KJM, For KJM, and By KJM) dedicated to their time and success. Together the 3 albums total 32 tracks featuring unreleased music and remixed tracks by the brothers and friends. Please check my reviews on theses three albums, as this "10th Anniversary" is a reissue item.
In this 10th Anniversary compilation by the same name which comes packaged in gold, Compost Records contracts the original 3 disc 32 track albums into a 19 track double-disc for the world market. It comes at a cheaper price too as in the Japan each of the 3 original albums which are sold stand alone are sold at a price of about 2,600 each which is roughly about $25 US dollars. For purists and those with the extra money to spend the original 3 are great items to own although the first release in my opinion was a little bit on the downside. The good news here is that a majority of songs I liked best are retained and the ones I didn't like so much are gone. For anyone who is a fan of Kyoto Jazz Massive or nu-jazz, club music this is definitely a buy.

Wow!
First I'd like to start off by commenting on the previous review. I have had this single since it's release date and I have yet to have problems playing it in any media device. The tracks play flawlessly on my iPod, the video plays fine on my computer. I don't have an Xbox360, but I'm fairly certain it would work fine there as well. I would venture to say that the company responsible for issuing this single isn't responsible for the problems you're having with the item.
But to continue with my review, Sara Jorge believes that it is a beautiful world we're living in, and if she keeps putting out singles like this, I will be inclined to agree. Her vocals are fresh and airy amid a pool of soulful divas. The original of "Beautiful World" is a great slice of the pop pie, and the remixes only build on that, but if I was forced to choose a mix, I'd say the Solasso End of Set remix is the best here. And the video is surprisingly well done with good quality, and it is enjoyable to boot!

What in the Blarney Took Me?
How old is this release? It's been awhile, that I know, and when I first heard it, I was buying way too much music, and at first listening, I passed it up, for maybe some future purchase.
Maybe 2 years hence, while on my iMAC, I now have the pleasure of listening to actual music I can now chose, such as under Ambient, and under that, an array of stations from all over, that play the BEST chill/ambient/lounge of which I stay on top of! I heard "Need You Tonight' and saw it was by Mylo, and realized I had passed up a CD that was and is, now, one of the BEST in my collection, since after that, I had to own it!
Mylo, when is there more coming???? Your music makes me happy....cheerful, with hope.

Sleek and sexy house
Flanders delivers us one of the most addictive house tunes of 2006. Callea and Rispoli definitely drop a sick mix, incorporating all the goodness of the original (which is more of a sexy lounge number than a thumping house tune) and giving it a fantastic beat. The Acid Mouse mix does things to this song that almost shouldn't be done, but it works. The Trophy Twins "Pop Pop" it up with a fun and pounding mix. And definitely don't miss that phenomenal voice. Delicious!
Video Life at Chinaking
Searching to see if this song l really liked 'By my side' by Flanders had a music video or not and saw this girl's video to the song and loved it. Copied her as l always wanted to play around with a still movie so made one with some of my fraternity brothers l live with and friends who came to our get together that night.
Awesome track!!
D. Ramirez nails it on the remix. An absolutely awesome track!! I'm a DJ and have this on vinyl, the crowd goes crazy when they hear the base beat come on, as they already know what's coming....the vocals make the track extra special...Luciana is fantastic.

What happened to Deep DIsh?
This isn't house music...it's way too commercialized - just like their last album. If you want good, deep, funky beats, go pick up an earlier DP release. Or better yet, try the names Garth, Jeno, or Fred Everything. Maybe Get Salted by Miguel Migs. Don't waste your money on 2 versions of 1 commercialized song, especially when you could buy a whole album that's really good.
